ORDCD responds to Oregonian article “Kotek, Drazan each call for Oregon data center moratorium”
The Oregonian has had some good coverage about data centers recently. Its Sept. 11 article highlights the excellent news that Gov. Kotek and Sen. Drazan have both called for a statewide data center moratorium, but it got a few other important facts wrong.

Who We Are
Oregon Data Center Defiance is a statewide coalition of advocates, experts, academics, activists, and organizations working to prevent the negative impacts of data center expansion in Oregon to reduce the environmental, social, and economic damages to our communities.
What We’re Doing
We are currently working to pass the Responsible Data Center Development Act in to legislation, to impose a temporary, 3-year moratorium on new large data center construction in Oregon. The new legislation will also set immediate standards, and creates a new task force to develop a comprehensive, long-term framework. The moratorium will give the task force the time needed to complete their work, and for the legislature to pass their recommendations in to state law.
